BOWEY LEAVES ASHINGTON

Ashington Community Football Club can confirm that first team manager Steve Bowey has departed the club with immediate effect.

The club would like to thank Steve and his backroom staff for the last 15 months of effort, which recently has been under very difficult circumstances.

Club chairman Brian Shotton said:  “I am very disappointed Steve has left the club but fully understand and accept the reasons for doing so. As has been well documented, the club is in a very tight financial position and following further financial reviews we have had no alternative but to make difficult decisions that will see us through until the end of the season when we can fully take stock of the situation on the football side of the club.

“I would like to personally thank Steve for his professionalism and effort, especially in the last three months in which has been a very difficult period for the club. I would like to wish him and his backroom staff the best of luck for the future.  I can only ask for your continued support as the club continues to rebuild towards a sustainable and long-term future”

It is confirmed that club football development officer Ian Skinner will take interim charge until the end of the season.
