DUNSTON UTS TOP EBAC NORTHERN LEAGUE AWARDS NIGHT

Dunston UTS striker Mark Fitzpatrick walked away with a hat-trick of awards at the annual Ebac Northern League presentation night.

The No. 9 was crowned both the league and BBC Radio Newcastle Player of the Year and won the Division One top goal scorer award.

And to top the club’s success, their manager Chris Swailes was named Manager of the Year.

Thornaby’s Kurtis Howes was voted the Bob Moreland Young Player of the Year and the league’s registrations secretary Dave Robinson was awarded Arthur Clark Memorial Trophy for his work for the league.

League chairman Glenn Youngman said:

“The awards are a reflection of the great success that Dunston UTS have enjoyed this season.

“They have been the outstanding team of the season and had a fantastic run in the FA Cup.

“As champions, they have been promoted out of the league and we wish them all the best for the future.

“I’m also delighted to present the Arthur Clark Memorial Trophy to our registrations secretary Dave Robinson.  Behind the scenes he puts in an unbelievable amount of work into making sure the league is one of the best run in the country.”

Other awards included:

  • Billingham Town’s Craig Hutchinson won the division two top goal scorer of the year award;
  • Hebburn Town and Brandon United won the Fair Play Award for division one and two; and
  • Ashington won the Respect Award.

Twenty clubs will also receive equipment worth £300 for finishing the season without incurring a penalty under the league’s administration awards scheme.

Cheques totalling more than £10,000 were handed to clubs, including:  Division one winners Dunston UTS received £1,500, division two winners Billingham Town received £1,000, West Auckland won £500 as winners of the Mitre Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup, Northallerton Town won £400 as winners of the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup, and £400 each went to Ashington, Hebburn Town and Brandon United as winners of the Respect and Fair Play awards.  Cheques were given to the top four teams in the two divisions and the Respect and Fair Play awards as well as the other clubs who reached the semi-finals and finals of the two cup competitions.
