Heaton Stannington will host a charity match later this month in aid of a North East charity.

The match – against Ashington – will be held on Saturday, July 24 (ko 3pm) with a bucket collection being held.  The proceeds will go to the Daft As A Brush Cancer Patient Care organisation.

Former Stan secretary Ken Rodger said:

“I had to stand down from the secretary’s position last year having been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“During the whole time I was receiving radiotherapy treatment, The Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care organisation transported me from home to the Freeman Hospital and back every day.

“I’m grateful to both clubs for allowing a collection to be used at the game.  They’re a wonderful charity who continue to help cancer patients throughout the North East.”
