CARLISLE CITY WIN DIVISION TWO TITLE

Consett promoted and play-offs announced:

Carlisle City were today crowned Division Two champions.

In a dramatic day of action, the Cumbrians won the division on goal difference after beating Ryton & Crawcrook Albion and Heaton Stannington drawing at Easington Colliery.

League chairman Glenn Youngman said: “Well done to Carlisle City on winning the Division Two title.

“They have been on an incredible run of wins over the last couple of weeks – along with winning the Cumberland FA Senior Cup – and they’ve been rewarded with the title.

“Congratulations to everyone associated with the club – players, the coaching staff, volunteers and fans.

“And congratulations to Consett – we’ll be sorry to see them go, but it’s been a great achievement to win away at Histon to secure promotion.  We wish them all the best.”

Arrangements will now be made to present the Division Two trophy to Carlisle.

Following today’s games, the play-offs will be:

Tuesday (May 3) Boldon CA v Tow Law Town

Wednesday (May 4) Heaton Stannington v Easington Colliery.

Saturday (May 7) the two winners will play off at the home of the highest placed club.
