NORTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

Shildon 2–0 Whitley Bay (Att: 322)

Shildon maintained their strong home league form with a controlled victory over Whitley Bay.  The hosts made a perfect start, taking the lead after eight minutes when Billy Greulich-Smith finished confidently. Shildon continued to dictate play and doubled their advantage on 23 minutes through Adam Lennox, who found space in the box to slot home. Shildon managed the second half professionally, limiting Whitley Bay to few clear chances and seeing out a deserved win.  This win takes Shildon to the top of the league with a two point advantage over Guisborough Town but Guisborough have two games in hand.  Whitley Bay remained in 4th.

West Allotment Celtic 1–3 Northallerton Town (Att: 86)

A young Allotment team fell to another home defeat to Northallerton Town who produced a strong second-half display to secure all three points.  The hosts took the lead on 20 minutes when Thomas McIntyre finished well, but Northallerton responded just before the break as Jack Dobinson levelled on 39 minutes.  After the break the visitors took control when Jack Spears fired them ahead on 47 minutes. Allotment pushed for an equaliser, but Alistair Banks sealed the win in stoppage time with a goal at 90+1.  Allotment remained 19th with Northallerton climbing into 15th.

FA VASE – FIFTH ROUND

Coventry United 2–1 North Shields

North Shields’ run in the FA Vase came to an end after a narrow defeat away to Coventry United. Charlie Faulkner opened the scoring for the hosts on 28 minutes, and Coventry doubled their advantage late on through Nehemia Zazi on 79 minutes. North Shields continued to push and pulled a goal back deep into stoppage time when Ben Sampson scored at 90+9, but it was too little, too late and not enough to prevent Coventry from progressing into the sixth round.
