DIVISION TWO DECISION DAY

And Consett travel to Histon FC in their inter-step play-off game

It’s Decision Day in Division Two tomorrow – with the title and promotion play-off places still to be decided.

Two teams are still in the running to win the division – Heaton Stannington and Carlisle City.

If Heaton Stannington win their game at Easington Colliery then they are crowned champions.  If they draw and Carlisle win, then the Cumbrians will be champions – on goal difference.  If Heaton Stannington lose, then they need Carlisle to draw or lose to win the division.

The play-offs to decide the second team to be promoted will also be decided tomorrow, with four other teams – Boldon, Easington Colliery, Ryton & Crawcrook and Tow Law – also able to qualify for the play-offs.

The play-offs will be held midweek next week, with the second placed team hosting the fifth team and the third team at home to the fourth team, with the play-off decider played next Saturday at the home of the team that finished the highest in the league.

League chairman Glenn Youngman said:

“After a long, hard season, it will be an exciting, nail-biting day in Division Two, with the title and play-off places still to be decided.

“We hope it’s a great day for fans, but no doubt it’ll be a nervous one for them, along with volunteers, players and coaches.”

With the agreement of the teams, the trophy will be taken to the Easington Colliery v Heaton Stannington game.  Should Carlisle win the title, arrangements will be made with the club to present the trophy.

Tomorrow’s decisive fixtures are (3pm ko):

Easington Colliery v Heaton Stannington

Carlisle City v Ryton & Crawcrook Albion

Tow Law Town v Bedlington Terriers

And Consett are away to Histon FC in their one-of match for promotion to Step 4.
