BARRY HINDSON – R.I.P.
One of the stalwarts of the North East non-league scene has passed away.
Former Radio Newcastle non-league reporter and author Barry Hindson died over Christmas.
Radio Newcastle colleague and friend Paul Dixon paid this tribute:
“He was a very special friend and was loved by everyone at Radio Newcastle and the non-league football scene in the region. We will all miss him terribly.
“It was Barry who introduced me to the BBC many years ago and, like myself, was a dedicated follower and had great knowledge of non-league football.
“He will be sadly missed and there will be scores of people across the region who will be very sad to hear the news.”
Ebac Northern League press officer Mike Snowdon added: “He was one of the most respected and liked people in non-league football in the North East and he will be a huge loss to the football scene in the region.
“The league would like to pass on our condolences to his family and friends at their loss.”
